Hittite road awaits those who spend their holiday in nature

The Hittite road, which was brought to life in 2011 with the slogan "Following the Sun Course", brings together the rich historical and cultural heritage of Anatolia with nature lovers. The 17 tracks on the route, which are marked for a total of 236 kilometers, reach 385 kilometers with alternative routes. The Hittite road, which also includes 6 bicycle tracks with a length of 406 kilometers, consists of three parts as daily, short, long camping and cycling. Hittite road walking and cycling tracks offer hikers the opportunity to travel on the old roads between Hattusa Ruins, which is on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list, and other important Hittite settlements in the region, Alacahöyük and Şapinuva. The section with Budaközü Valley and Yazır Stream, which is the most popular track of the Hittite road, offers its visitors the opportunity to walk on the creek bed surrounded by majestic trees, especially in the spring and summer months. The 23-kilometer Budaközü track that circumnavigates the two valleys surrounding the plateau where the Hittite capital Hattusha is located, draws attention as the most preferred section of the visitors with its suspension bridges, water crossings, caves, wooden walking platforms and unique nature. After the nature walk, visitors can explore the 8,000-year-old history by visiting the Ancient City of Hattusa and Yazılıkaya Open Air Temple, which are both on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage and Memory of the World lists. Boğazkale District Governor Nazmi Yücel told Anadolu Agency (AA) that Budaközü Valley is a region of unique beauty that can fascinate its visitors every season. Yücel stated that they are happy to host nature and history lovers in Boğazkale; "Our district is a World Cultural Heritage, World Memory Heritage, but also a national park area. The Hittite road, which is shown as one of the most enjoyable walking routes in Turkey by travel writers, travelers and tourism magazines, and deserves to bear the UNESCO logo, is also among the 14 walking routes supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Inviting those who plan to go out into nature during the Eid al-Adha to Boğazkale, Yücel said, "We invite you to a journey intertwined with history and nature on the Hittite Road, which provides professional nature lovers and families with the opportunity to spend a peaceful time, to the lands where the Kadesh Peace Agreement was signed, that is, a kind of peace was discovered.
