Starting the nine-day Eid al-Adha holiday with a record number of flights, Antalya hosted over 4 million visitors. TÜRSAB Chief Advisor Hamit Kuk stated that a record number of tourists also arrived in the city by road on the eve of the holiday, adding, "We will meet our expectation of 17 million passengers."
Antalya, known as the capital of tourism due to its sea, climate, and natural features, experienced an 8-10% increase in tourist numbers compared to the same period last year during the nine-day Eid al-Adha holiday, extended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's announcement. Following the announcement by Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu on June 15th that Antalya Airport set a 2024 record with 1,163 flights landing in one day, Hamit Kuk reported that 4,300 flights landed at the airport over the four-day holiday period.
Over 4 million tourists visited Antalya
Highlighting that 4,300 flights correspond to 800,000 passengers, TÜRSAB Chief Advisor Hamit Kuk stated that the 5 million tourists who visited Antalya in the first five months of the year give hope for setting new records throughout the year. Kuk said, "When we look at the hotel occupancy rates and the number of arriving passengers, we can say that over 4 million tourists have come to Antalya. On June 15th, 1,163 planes landed at Antalya Airport, and during Eid al-Adha, 4,300 planes landed daily. These 4,300 flights correspond to 800,000 passengers. Additionally, a record number of tourists arrived by road on the eve of the holiday. During the holiday period, 1 million vehicles entered Antalya, which means approximately 3 million people. Given the 5 million tourists in the first five months, we realized that we would meet the target of over 17 million tourists, as announced by our Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy. Compared to last year, there is an 8-10% increase, and we will meet our expectation of 17 million passengers."
