While the works for the construction of Marmara Saraylar Port and Erdek Ferry Port continue at full speed, the plans approved by the General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments under the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure are preparing to be suspended in the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.
Worn out ports at Erdek will be rearranged and new ports of -3 meters deep and 500 meters long will be created. In addition to these ports, the Metropolitan Municipality, which has designed a 520-meter-long floating port and a 100-meter-long floating breakwater to which boats can moor, will ensure that 280 boats, whose lengths vary between 6 and 15 meters, can be safely anchored in the port. In addition to the changes made in the port, the sea area to the west of the Harbor Master's Office will be protected with a 120-meter-long breakwater and will be built to serve 60 fishing boats. The filling area to be created in the east of the newly designed fishing port and the 45-meter-long pier will be allocated to the Coast Guard Command.
Determining that Saraylar Port needs a serious increase in capacity as a result of the field investigations, the Metropolitan Municipality will create a 490-meter-long breakwater to protect the port against waves and a new pier with a total length of 550 meters and a depth of -14 meters in the inner basin. With the new filling area to be built, the stock area need of the port will be met, the existing ports will be renewed and arranged with a total length of 370 meters and a depth of -10 meters. The tonnage of ships that can safely land inside the port, which can accept 4 ships at the same time, has been determined as 40 thousand DWT. With the designed project, the export of marble and marble products of Saraylar Port will be increased, contributing to the economy of the region and the country.
