İzmir Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism announced the tourist data of the city. According to this, the number of tourists coming to İzmir by sea, air and land was 534 thousand 90 in the first 6 months of the year. In June, 182 thousand 340 tourists, 168 thousand 940 by air and 13 thousand 400 by sea, entered Izmir. In June 2022, 192 thousand 553 tourists entered the city by air and seaway. In June 2023, there was a decrease of 6.05 percent in airline entries compared to June of the previous year, and an increase of 5.19 percent in seaway entries. There was a 5.30 percent decrease in total entries.
GERMANY IS AT THE FIRST AGAIN
Germany again took the lead among the top 10 countries that entered Izmir in June. Accordingly, 184 thousand 320 from Germany, 60 thousand 976 from England, 33 thousand 333 from the Netherlands, 28 thousand 67 from Poland, 20 thousand 837 from Russia, 19 thousand 82 from Iran, 18 thousand 567 from France, 14,894 from Belgium, 14,732 from the United States and 13,217 from Ireland. In the 12 months of 2022, the total number of tourists reached 1 million 465 thousand 6.
OVERNIGHT TOURISTS PREFFERED TO COME IN MAY THE MOST
Considering the distribution of foreign tourists coming to Izmir in the first 6 months of 2023 by months; 30 thousand 316 in January, 32 thousand 636 in February, 45 thousand 549 in March, 100 thousand 59 in April, 143 thousand 190 in May and 182 thousand 340 in June. The distribution of tourists coming to the city on a daily basis in the first 6 months of this year was also reflected in the data of the Izmir Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism. Accordingly, in January and February, while no tourists visited İzmir on a daily basis, 1,10 tourists came in March, 4,166 tourists in April, 6 thousand 948 tourists in May and 4 thousand 598 tourists in June. The total number of tourists coming to İzmir on a daily basis in the first 6 months was 16,722.
