ITF World Tennis Masters Tour Championship starts in Antalya

Cengiz Durmuş, President of the Turkish Tennis Federation, said that they are happy to host the ITF World Tennis Masters Tour World Championship and said, “We are a federation that plans to make every event a profit for our country. We are also working to be the best in the world.”

The most prestigious tournament of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) senior calendar, the ITF World Tennis Masters Tour World Championship will be held in Antalya Manavgat between 19 March-1 April 2023. In the tournament, where athletes from all over the world come to Antalya to represent their country in 5 different age categories between the ages of 30-50, 163 teams and approximately 1,200 athletes from 37 countries will compete.

Before the championship, which will start tomorrow, an opening ceremony was held with the participation of all teams. Cengiz Durmuş, President of the Turkish Tennis Federation, who made a statement to the members of the press here, said, “We started to make preparations with the excitement of the World Team Championship and Individual Championship being held in our country. Of course, first of all, we are very sorry for the disaster we experienced in the past days, our condolences. But since we also know the healing power of sports, it is one of the tournaments in which we plan to continue our activities and host every athlete from the world in our country and then send them as our representatives. It is a period in which 163 teams from 37 countries participated in a tournament that will last 10 days, in which approximately 1,200 athletes and 2 thousand people together with their relatives were hosted. Of course, I can say that the development of tennis is very meaningful for us and for our country, the meeting of the board of directors of the International Tennis Federation here is important in terms of morale for us after these unfortunate events in our country, and that Turkey is a country of tennis. We also believe that we are the country that can train the best athletes of the world in the future where we hold the world championships in order to bring sports and tennis to the best place. These tournaments, which we find meaningful, are very important for our athletes. We know that everybody can play tennis in every part of our country and we prove this to the world. World tennis is here with us this week. Together with our athletes, we will both host our guests and tell them about the beauties of our country, and also contribute to sports tourism. We are a federation that plans to make every event profit for our country, we are a federation with goals. In order to achieve these goals, we are also working to be the best in the world where we have the most athletes, by making the most of both national and international tournaments.”

President Durmuş also added that 40 athletes between the ages of 30-50 will represent Turkey at the ITF World Tennis Masters Tour World Championship.
