Nature trips to Kırkmerdiven Waterfalls have started

In Ovacık, which is established among the steep mountains, nature has come to life with the rains that are effective in the spring after the dry winter season.

With the abundance of precipitation in the district, grass productivity in the pastures increased, the flow rate of underground water resources and waterfalls and glacial lakes in the mountains increased.

Kırkmerdiven Waterfalls, located between the Munzur Mountains at an altitude of about 3 thousand, started to flow more enthusiastically with the effect of melting snow waters and precipitation.

The waterfalls and their surroundings, which attract attention with their untouched nature, are nowadays frequented by nature and photography enthusiasts coming from the surrounding provinces with daily tours.

Visitors, who come to Gözeler village in the district with their vehicles, start walking in groups towards the waterfalls after making the necessary preparations.

Nature and photography enthusiasts, who pass through difficult paths along their routes, reach the area where the waterfalls are located after about a 3-hour journey.

Visitors, who visit the waterfalls at four different points in order, have a good time intertwined with nature.

Dağcı Murat Bahçeci told Anadolu Agency (AA) that they came to Ovacık with a group of about 80 people as Elazığ Outdoor Sports Club.

"This region should be protected, it should not be polluted and trashed"

Stating that they went through difficult roads to see the natural wonder Kırkmerdiven Waterfalls, Bahçeci said:

“It's a legend and a place that everyone watches with admiration. We came here last year, there was snow in front of the waterfalls and it wasn't flowing as enthusiastically. This year, the snow melted early, but the waterfalls are flowing enthusiastically because it rains a lot. This place should be protected, it should not be polluted and garbage should not be thrown. Let's take the household waste we brought with us back and throw them in the trash cans. Let's not come to waterfalls especially for barbecue. Let's just visit the place and take pictures."

Turkish Folk Music artist and researcher writer Aygün Çam stated that they are trying to discover the beauties of the Upper Euphrates Region through excursions.

Stating that Ovacık is one of the most beautiful districts of Nature Anatolia, Çam said, "We had a very nice walk towards Kırkmerdiven Waterfalls and its valley. There were four large and small scale waterfalls. They were the most beautiful waterfalls I have ever seen in my life. It is an incredible place with its natural environment, geography and natural assets."

"There is a visually incredible nature and it impresses people"

Sercan Karataş, a local resident, reminded that the spring and summer months were dry in Ovacık last year.

Pointing out that nature has become more beautiful with the rains that have been effective in the district this year, Karataş said, "The season is going well right now. There are many people from the surrounding provinces and districts who come to visit the waterfalls. There is a visually incredible nature here and it impresses people."

Nature lover Serpil Ülcan also stated that as Anadolu Mountaineering Sports Club, they organized a nature trip to Tunceli with her friends.

Ülcan said that he found peace with nature trips and said, "I want everyone to discover the waterfalls, they are a natural wonder. I couldn't believe it. There are waterfalls everywhere and in every mountain. It is a very interesting Mesopotamia."

"The view of Munzur Mountains gave me a lot of peace"

Meteorology engineer Fatma Yıldız Baykal also stated that she liked Kırkmerdiven Waterfalls very much and said, "The view of Munzur Mountains gave me a lot of peace and it was very nice to walk on the snow."

Emine Kayık, who came from Elazığ, said that she walked about 10 kilometers to reach the waterfalls and had fun times in the region.

Hülya Dalar stated that she saw the beauties of Ovacık on the news and joined the tour from Istanbul to see the nature of the district on site.
