Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu pointed out that the number of passengers has increased due to the increasing tourism traffic in Trabzon and said that a new airport project is planned.
Minister Uraloğlu said; “Trabzon Airport is one of the most important airports in the country with an annual passenger capacity of 4 million. It is a very important success that it ranks 7th in the number of domestic passengers and 10th in the number of international passengers. On June 30, 2023, we will bring a new airport to Trabzon, which broke the record with 145 aircraft traffic. Between January and July of 2023, a total of 737 thousand 137 people reached Trabzon, 339 thousand 695 of which were domestic and 397 thousand 442 foreigners. The ever-increasing tourism potential and the number of tourists have created the need for a new airport. Until a new airport project is implemented, the existing airport will continue to function. At the same time, improvements were made to the existing airport. I believe that these positive developments in the tourism sector will also contribute to the economic development of the region.” Emphasizing that the Black Sea Region, which draws attention with its tourism potential, has become a center of attraction with its natural beauties, plateaus and sea, Minister Uraloğlu said, “Germany, Azerbaijan, UAE, Bahrain, Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Israel, Qatar, TRNC, Kuwait, Saudi Planes landed from 12 different countries such as Arabia, Oman and Jordan. This is an important indicator of the tourism potential in the region. This potential is increasing every year.”
