Adventure enthusiasts who come to the region for a holiday reach Babadağ at an altitude of 1965 in Ölüdeniz Mahallesi after a journey by road or cable car.
Vacationers, who have the opportunity to watch the view of Ölüdeniz from a bird's eye view by jumping with a paraglider, experience exciting moments at an altitude of approximately 2 thousand meters.
Babadağ Teleferik General Manager Cengiz Koçak told Anadolu Agency (AA) that the number of paragliding flights since the beginning of the year has exceeded 40 thousand.
Emphasizing that 198,000 flights were made from Babadağ last year, and that they aim to reach over 200 thousand this year, Koçak said, "There is a 30 percent increase in the number of flights in the first 5 months of the year compared to last year. Last year, approximately 31 thousand flights took place in the first five months. "We have to work harder because our goals are so high. We spend all our time on the facility, the airfields and promotional events."
Koçak explained that they attach importance to the promotion of the region and Babadağ for maximum efficiency, and that they also host well-known people active on social media.
Pointing out that his work contributes not only to the promotion of Babadağ but also Fethiye and the country, Koçak said, "We think of what we do as a national promotion effort in terms of promoting Turkey to the world."
350 pilots fly vacationers
İbrahim Arıkan, President of Ölüdeniz Paragliding Cooperative, emphasized that Babadağ is among the places where most paragliding flights are made in the world with its eye-catching view.
Arıkan stated that approximately 350 paragliding pilots in the region brought the holidaymakers together with the sky safely with the strict controls applied, and continued his words as follows:
"As paragliding pilots, we send our guests home happy to increase the number of flights. The increased number of flights not only benefits us but also all branches in the tourism sector. It contributes to the inflow of more foreign currency into our country. The view of Ölüdeniz, recorded during paragliding flights from Babadağ, is among the promotional faces of Turkey. We are also fighting professionally to raise this point even higher."
"I came across an unforgettable sight"
Duygu Köksal, who flies with paragliding, explained that she came to the region on vacation for the first time and that she had very enjoyable moments at every stop of Babadağ, where she took the cable car.
Stating that she flew paragliding for the first time and encountered an unforgettable view, Köksal said, "It has been an incredible investment in Babadağ. I have been traveling professionally for seven years. I have been to many places in the world, but I have never seen such a facility anywhere. From now on, I plan to start my vacation every year from here."
