Sivrihisar, a candidate for Cittaslow

Sivrihisar, which is the 5th largest district in Turkey and the largest in Eskişehir, has been nominated for the Cittaslow (Calm City) list.
Sivrihisar, which Nasreddin Hodja describes as 'the center of the world', will become one of the few tourism centers that meet 72 criteria with its inclusion in Cittaslow and will compete with world cities. While there are rich theaters, squares, cafes, workshops, restaurants and places with spiritual value in the places designated as 'Calm City', these cities are known for having a fascinating atmosphere with their untouched historical and natural beauties.
Sivrihisar draws attention with its historical texture and restoration works carried out in accordance with this texture. The district, where many artifacts from the Seljuk period are located, attracts great attention from the visitors. The 850-year-old Sivrihisar Ulu Mosque, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, stands out with its upright stance against time.
Sivrihisar Mayor Hamid Yüzgüllü, who stands out with innovative projects, said, “Sivrihisar is a historically rich district. The name of these ancient lands, which Nasreddin Hodja described as 'the center of the world', will now be included in the Calm City list. The pearl of Turkey, Sivrihisar will compete with the most popular Quiet Cities in the world such as Chianti (Italy), Svendborg (Denmark), Trevi (Italy), Naramata (Canada), Matakana (New Zealand)”
