Swiss couple pedals to reunite with their grandchildren

The couple, who came to Turkey by plane from Switzerland, set off from Izmir on their bicycles to get to know the culture of the country and visit their daughter, son-in-law and grandson in Amasya, took a break in Yozgat. Jörg Witschi (63) and his wife Francoise Witschi (61), who came to Izmir by plane from Switzerland to visit their daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren living in the Gümüşhacıköy district of Amasya, set out on their bikes on Tuesday, April 25. Departing from Izmir, the couple visited historical and cultural places in Muğla, Antalya and Cappadocia and reached Yozgat at the end of approximately 20 days. The couple, who set off on their bikes to visit their daughter and son-in-law in Amasya and to get to know Turkish culture, will take a break in Yozgat and then tour the Boğazkale district of Çorum and go to Amasya.

The Swiss couple, who stayed in the cities they were in during the trip by camping or staying at the hotels, was most amazed by the Turkish food. Those who see the Swiss couple on the road with their bicycles both take selfies and chat with the couple. Stating that they have been on the road for about 20 days by bicycle, Francoise Witschi said, “We came to İzmir by plane from Switzerland. We came from İzmir to Antalya and from there to Nevşehir Cappadocia. We will stay overnight in Yozgat and visit Boğazkale. Then we will go to Gümüşhacıköy. I have my daughter and Turkish son-in-law and grandson there. I have missed them too much. We love Turkey very much. Those who see us on the road always greet us and especially insist on breakfast and food. We love breakfast and food. Sometimes we stay in tents if space is available, and sometimes we stay in hotels. We got cold in Yozgat, it's very cold here. We have been on the road by bicycle since April 25. We know Turkish culture. People are very friendly.”
