The decision regarding the geographical indication registration of the Antakya künefe was published in the Official Journal of the EU.
Thus, the Antakya künefe was taken under protection by the EU against imitation and association. This product will be able to be produced in the regions related to the techniques included in the registration certificate and product specifications.
With the latest decisions, the EU's geographical indication list includes 9 products from Turkey: Antakya künefesi, Antep baklavası/Gaziantep baklavası, Aydın fig, Bayramiç beyazı, Malatya apricot, Aydın chestnut, Taşköprü garlic, Milas olive oil and Giresun tombul hazelnut.
