The only woman who continues the profession of Ahi Evran

Kırşehir

Fatmagül Kaya, who continues her profession as a tanner (Leather Embroidery.) by Ahi Evran in the Craftsmen's Bazaar supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, as well as the Ahi Complex, the first social complex project in the History of the Republic, tells the importance of vocational education to future generations by doing her job with passion.

Kaya said that people watch with curiosity when they see a woman who is a leather worker and that she takes pride in her work. Kaya stated that his father's being a tanhit master directed him to the art of leather embroidery.

Kaya, who teaches as a master trainer and is the only female craftsman in this field, in the Craftsmen Bazaar, where 32 professions in the Ahi Organization are promoted and dying professions are brought to life, said, "Ahi Evran's main profession, tanning, is practiced in the bazaar in the Ahi Complex, where 32 professions are revived. "As a woman, this makes me proud. People are surprised when they see a woman who is a master of leatherworking."

Noting that she is trying to keep a dying profession alive, Kaya said, "I and all the craftsmen in the market care about giving life to Ahi Evran's profession by creating a master-apprentice relationship. My art of leather embroidery stems from the fact that my father is a master of tanhit art.

"My aim is to transfer my profession to future generations. I am opening the door to future generations by embroidering one of the 32 professions in the Ahi community. I contribute to the survival of the profession by giving leather embroidering courses to the students under the Provincial Directorate of Culture."
