Alithia newspaper wrote that the number of tourists visiting Southern Cyprus in September increased by 17.9 percent compared to the same month of 2022.
Writing that the number of tourists arriving in September was 487 thousand 350, the newspaper stated that this figure was recorded as 413 thousand 382 in 2022.
Stating that the number of tourists arriving in September this year was the highest after 2020 (September), the newspaper reminded that 679 thousand 628 tourists came in September 2019 and 520 thousand 138 tourists in 2018.
According to the news, 3 million 136 thousand 145 tourists entered the country in the January-September period of 2023, while 2 million 540 thousand 554 people came in the same period of 2022.
Most tourists are from the United Kingdom
The newspaper wrote that the most tourists were from the United Kingdom with 34 percent (165 thousand 869 people), and stated that the number of tourists from Israel increased by 63 percent (22 thousand 75 people) compared to September 2022, reaching 57 thousand 88 people.
The newspaper wrote that people coming from Israel constituted 11.7 percent of the total tourists coming to Southern Cyprus for September.
