Signatures were signed for the addition of 100 new vehicles to the Kadıköy-Sabiha Gökçen Airport metro line fleet. İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu shared the information that the new vehicles to be used on the M4 and M10 lines will be produced by an Ankara-based company and expressed his satisfaction that a local company won the vehicle tender.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) is adding 100 new vehicles to its M4 Kadıköy-Sabiha Gökçen Airport metro line fleet. Within the scope of the tender, which was completed on May 11, between the IMM Rail Systems Department and Bozankaya Group, the signatures for the production of 100 new metro vehicles were signed under the witness of IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu.
"WE ALLOCATE MORE THAN 40 PERCENT OF INVESTMENTS TO RAIL SYSTEMS"
Speaking at the signing ceremony, İmamoğlu emphasized that transportation is one of the most important problems for Istanbulites. Emphasizing that IMM has been in a struggle for the solution of this problem since its existence, İmamoğlu said; “If you can't design a healthy time frame for the city and create foresight, the problems grow and unfortunately, the solutions are not easy after accumulating them”. Pointing out that rail systems are the first problem to be solved for Istanbul in this sense, İmamoğlu said, “In this context, we have become a management that has increased and accelerated our investments. For four years, we have transferred a serious investment to our subways, we have transferred a serious resource. We have allocated more than 40 percent of our 2023 investment expenditure to rail systems. Our annual metro production rate is really going towards a record, as Pelin has just said. Don't be fooled by what we call a record. Unfortunately, we think that even this will not be enough for Istanbul.”
Emphasizing that they will bring a production of 100 kilometers to Istanbul residents by the end of 2025, İmamoğlu said:
“When we took office, we stopped and took over 10 metro lines that had problems because of lack of planning, lack of financial capability or lack of financial regulations. We took swift action regarding our subway constructions, which had fallen into this abandoned position. But unfortunately, our city and our budget suffered a loss of billions of liras at that time. I always say this, especially our people should know this: There is nothing wrong than going out to a tender for a political maneuver, to pretend to be, or saying, 'I have started a job'. A need arises. After the need, analyzes and studies are carried out. Then a project process of the metro begins. While the project process is managed, its financial requirements are also discussed. In this context, how this work was tendered and its future are revealed. And with this workflow order, investments with such large figures with a ready project and ready finances are put out to tender in this way. After the contractor takes this job, his project is ready and ready for financing and starts work. After that, you say to the townspeople, 'We will finish this job in 3 years, 3.5 years, 4 years' and it is finished. But I regret to say that I have to remind our people of a period in 2015, 2016, 2017, that is, about 7-8 years ago, when the tender was made, some of them were not even nailed, some of them were never started, and some of them we took over as an abandoned construction site. By changing the order that causes more money to come out of the nation's pocket by increasing waste and costs, we have become and will continue to be a transparent administration dominated by reason, science and technology."
İmamoğlu expressed his satisfaction that a local company won the tender for the vehicle to be signed.
FIRST WAGONS WILL GO ON RAILS IN FEBRUARY 2024
According to the information given by Alpkökin, Deputy Secretary General of IMM; The vehicles, which will be 51 percent domestic and spindle, will be produced in Ankara. The first directory will be downloaded to the lines in February 2024. As of June, with two series being put on the rails every month, all 100 vehicles will be at the service of Istanbulites by September 2025. The vehicles, which will be put into service on the M4 Kadıköy-Sabiha Gökçen Airport and M10 Pendik-Sabiha Gökçen metro lines in the first stage, will also be used on the Pendik Center-Kaynarca Center-Fevzi Çakmak metro line, which is planned to be completed in 2025.
