Talip Aldemir, Member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies, told Anadolu Agency (AA) that there was a slowdown in bookings after the earthquakes on 6 February.
Stating that the reservations have returned to normal in the last few days and they predict that an active process will begin in the tourism components in the region as of April, Aldemir said, "Unfortunately, the earthquake postponed the mobility expectation in March to April. Our reservation requests for April are going well."
Emphasizing that they expect to break the tourist record of all times this year, Aldemir said, "2023 will be a good year in terms of tourism. We will host guests from all over the world, reservations continue to come. Cappadocia is a unique tourism region in the world."
"We have not strayed from our 2023 tourism goals"
Mehmet Dinler, President of the Anatolian Hot Air Balloon Operators Association, stated that there has been an increase in the demands for accommodation facilities, hot air balloon tours and other organizations.
Noting that Turkey is a very important tourism country, Dinler said:
"Turkey is a country that can quickly overcome major crises and disasters with its well-established tourism policies. Although we experienced a slowdown in reservations in February, we survived this. There seems to be a density in our region, especially from April on. The feature is the market diversity. We can say that there is an increasing demand from Far East countries this year."
Mustafa Durmaz, Head of Göreme Tourism Development Cooperative, said that the region's tourism professionals actively participated in international fairs in order to get to know Cappadocia better, and this effort was rewarded.
Museums and ruins in Cappadocia reached 4 million 192 thousand 70 visitors last year, 2 million 285 thousand 895 visitors in 2021, 992 thousand 620 visitors in 2020, and 3 million 834 thousand 134 visitors in 2019.
