According to the statement made by Karadeniz Ereğli Municipality, as a result of the regulations, renovations and investments carried out in recent years, the municipal beach was awarded the blue flag by the International Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE-Foundation for Environmental Education). Thus, Sevgi and Barış Beach became the only blue flag beach of the city.
Mayor Halil Posbıyık, whose views are included in the statement, stated that they have reaped the fruits of the work done for the last 4 years and said, "There are 1 blue flag beaches in Düzce, 3 in Bartın, 13 in Samsun and 2 blue flag beaches in Ordu. Zonguldak's only blue flag beach was Ereğli. We have become the center of attraction of the region with our aqua park, security, food and beverage, service quality and cleanliness. We will open the season on June 17 and we will wear our blue flag. I congratulate all my friends who have worked on this issue. May it be good for our people."
