Successful "Green Destination Model" to be used in tourism

Enerjisa Energy, United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Sabancı University carried out an 18-month joint study aiming to create a green destination model in Küçükköy with energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainable tourism practices.

Within the scope of the SENTRUM project, which was completed with an investment of 10 million liras, energy studies were carried out for tourism enterprises and public buildings; Energy efficient lighting and white goods support was provided to businesses, solar energy systems were installed in public buildings, and the village got a high-speed electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Necmi Komili Primary and Secondary School, where energy efficiency and solar power plant applications were carried out within the scope of the project, was among the firsts in Turkey as a "Net Zero Energy Building".

All these efforts have also produced measurable benefits in the fight against climate change. Enerjisa Energy saved energy by preventing the use of 15,000 kg of coal per year in the region, with energy efficient technologies and renewable energy applications under the umbrella of "The Energy of My Work". Again, thanks to renewable energy systems, annual carbon emissions of ~90 thousand kg have been prevented.

The Sustainable Energy Based Tourism Application Center (SENTRUM) project has concretely demonstrated how the tourism sector can benefit from renewable energy sources and other sustainable practices in a single destination.

The Sustainable Energy-Based Tourism Application Center (SENTRUM), which was established by Enerjisa Enerji together with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Sabancı University, received wide coverage in the international press.
