150 thousand visitors at Safranbolu during the Ramadan

The Safranbolu district of Karabük, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, hosted 150 thousand local and foreign tourists during the Ramadan Feast.

The historical district, which resembles an open-air museum with its inns, baths, mosques, fountains, mansions and bridges from the Ottoman period, spent the 3-day Ramadan Feast holiday to the fullest. Known with titles such as "The city that protects itself", "Ottoman's fingerprint", "The capital of protection", Safranbolu took its visitors on a historical journey with its cobbled streets.

In Safranbolu, which is also on the UNESCO World Heritage List on an urban scale in Turkey, the hotels were full and the shopkeepers in the Historical Bazaar were satisfied with the occupancy. Şebnem Urgancıoğlu Ergüder, President of Safranbolu Tourism Operators Association (SAFTID), stated that they had a nice holiday. Stating that the holiday was quite busy, Ergüder said, "We think that we hosted over 150 thousand guests. It was possible to understand this from the traffic density anyway. The fact that it coincided with the mid-term holiday, that the new season has not yet started, and that Safranbolu is very beautiful in the spring, has a great effect on this. We have been informed that our tradesmen are doing a very good job and that our hotels are full."

"Everyone should see Safranbolu"

Expressing that they are happy to open the season like this, Ergüder said, "Actually, the season never ends in Safranbolu. The season continues for 12 months. But the season drops and rises again. Now we are very happy to have entered the high season with this motivation again. Of course, we are pleased to host many guests and we are very happy to share our history with everyone. I would like to remind those who haven't seen it yet to visit Safranbolu, and that it is the only city in Turkey that is on the UNESCO World Heritage List to be protected on an urban scale, and that's why everyone should see it."

Emphasizing that Safranbolu will also have a busy weekend on May 1, Ergüder said: "Long weekends have always been good for Safranbolu. Likewise, being in the spring, our best time, also increases our expectations. However, we think that after 19 May and the presidental election that followed, it will be even more intense. Of course on the election weekend it will normally drop a bit. But, we believe it will be crowded and busy again after that."
